Acting Foreign Minister Humaiun Kobir has called for renewed Commonwealth action to strengthen climate resilience, mobilise investment and support the safe, voluntary, and dignified return of Rohingyas to Myanmar.
He made the call while addressing the retreat session of the Pre-CHOGM Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministersâ Meeting at the American University of Antigua in St Johnâs, Antigua and Barbuda, on November 2, according to a foreign ministry press release here this morning.
He stressed the need to operationalise the Loss and Damage Fund and establish a unified mechanism to mobilise intra-Commonwealth investment.
Kobir also sought concerted support from Commonwealth nations for the safe, voluntary, and dignified repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar.
Highlighting an increasingly complex global landscape, he urged renewed efforts to address shared challenges encompassing peace and security, climate resilience, energy and food security, and the responsible use of emerging technologies.
The acting foreign minister is visiting Antigua and Barbuda to lead the Bangladesh delegation to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), being held from November 1 to 4.
