India has inaugurated the first phase of the Noida International Airport, marking the launch of a new aviation hub intended to expand capacity for the countryâs capital region and improve connectivity to major tourism and business destinations.
The airport, located in Jewar in Greater Noida along the Yamuna Expressway, is designed to serve as the second international gateway for the National Capital Region (NCR), complementing operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Officials involved in the project said the new facility is expected to support increasing passenger demand, reduce congestion in the Delhi areaâs air travel network, and stimulate trade, logistics, and tourism in surrounding regions.
According to project authorities, the airportâs location could improve access to prominent destinations including Agra, Mathura, Fatehpur Sikri, and Dudhwa National Park, potentially strengthening air-linked tourism flows.
Industry observers anticipate that the airport will also create employment and business opportunities related to aviation services, transport, and regional development. Local transport operators and service providers anticipate increased passenger movement once flight operations expand.
The projectâs initial phase forms part of a broader multi-stage development plan that aims to scale up infrastructure and passenger handling capacity over time, positioning the airport as a significant addition to Indiaâs rapidly growing aviation market.
