Biman Bangladesh Airlines has named Kaiser Sohel Ahmed as Managing Director and CEO, appointing Syed Moin Uddin Ahmed as Deputy Managing Director, filling a long-vacant post amid ongoing efforts to stabilise the national carrier.
The appointments were confirmed on Tuesday through separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Public Administration, signalling a fresh leadership reset at the state-owned airline.
Kaiser Sohel Ahmed has been appointed on a one-year contractual basis as MD and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited, effective from the date of joining, subject to relinquishing all other professional or organisational affiliations.
Syed Moin Uddin Ahmed has similarly been appointed as Deputy Managing Director (DMD) for a one-year contractual term under the same conditions.
The filling of the DMD positionâleft vacant for an extended periodâcomes at a critical juncture for Biman, as the airline grapples with capacity constraints, fleet modernisation plans and operational restructuring.
Industry observers say the new leadership will be closely watched for its ability to steer the carrier through a phase of transition, including fleet expansion initiatives and service improvements aimed at strengthening competitiveness in regional markets.
