Maldives envoy seeks stronger cooperation with Bangladesh

Maldives High Commissioner to Bangladesh Shiuneen Rasheed held a courtesy meeting with Prime Ministerâs Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir on Wednesday (August 12, 2026), with discussions focusing on bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in tourism, manpower and investment.
The meeting was held at the Prime Ministerâs Office in Tejgaon in the afternoon, according to a press release.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed various issues of mutual interest and stressed the need to enhance cooperation in several sectors.
The foreign affairs adviser urged the Maldives to expand employment opportunities for Bangladeshi workers in the island nation.
The two sides also reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and the Maldives.
