A man named Ferdous (22)
has been detained for allegedly crossing the security fence without any barrier
and entering the runway through the interior terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal
International Airport (HSIA).
At 6:15 am on Tuesday
(April 28), the man entered the runway through a gate in the airport's interior
terminal without any obstruction and went to the apron area. No passenger is
allowed to enter there except authorized persons of the airport.
A source in charge of
the airport confirmed the matter.
The source said that the
arrested youth's home is in Meherpur district. During initial interrogation,
the youth said that he came to the airport to receive his uncle. Since the
plane was delayed in landing, he came to the runway without any hindrance to
see the plane. Later, he was sent to the Magistrate's Court.
Security was beefed up
at 8 airports including HSIA yesterday (Monday) after the police headquarters
issued a warning of militant attacks on important installations in the country.
This incident occurred the day after the security was beefed up.
