MiG-29 fighter jet tributes President, PM on Independence Day

On the occasion of Bangladesh’s Independence Day, the Air Force’s MiG-29 fighter jet paid tribute to the President and Prime Minister (PM) during the national parade, performing advanced aerial manoeuvres to showcase fourth-generation combat aircraft capabilities.

Multirole MiG-29 fighters performed flying salute to the President and PM using powerful RD-33 twin engines at maximum thrust while controlling aircraft speed for optimal turn performance. Manoeuvre is traditionally known as knife manoeuvre among aviation circles.

Pilots displayed slow-speed handling capability, allowing aircraft to hover in sky at minimal velocity while rapidly changing direction and altitude. This ability provides unique battlefield advantage and enables effective combat tactics against adversaries.

MiG-29, recognized globally including in Western world, is capable of defeating any combat aircraft in dogfight situations. Aircraft's powerful engines and superior aerodynamic design allow it to quickly transition into offensive position against enemies at extremely low speeds.

Demonstration included afterburner turn manoeuvre showcasing maximum engine power utilization. Aircraft then repositioned to southern end of parade ground for inverted flying display.

Slow-speed handling manoeuvre highlighted aircraft's ability to maintain stability and control at reduced velocities, distinguishing MiG-29 from conventional fighters. This capability proves crucial during close-range aerial combat where manoeuvrability determines engagement outcome.

Twin RD-33 engines provide thrust necessary for complex aerial manoeuvres while maintaining aircraft control at varying speeds. Superior aerodynamic design complements engine power, enabling pilots to execute aggressive positioning against hostile aircraft.

Flying salute demonstrated precision flying skills of Bangladesh Air Force pilots and combat readiness of fighter squadron. Performance emphasized operational capabilities of fourth-generation multirole fighters currently serving in national defence fleet.
