Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury departed for Malaysia on Monday night for his third visit to the country to advance discussions on the Malaysian labour market. Adviser to the ministry Mahdi Amin is accompanying him on the visit.

The two left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9:10 pm on Monday (July 27) aboard Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-386 bound for Malaysia.

A source at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport confirmed the departure to Aviation Express.

Although the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has not officially announced the visit, Aviation Express has obtained a ministry letter regarding the tour. The document confirms that both the minister and the adviser are scheduled to visit Malaysia.

Meanwhile, the ministry's silence over the visit has drawn criticism from the Migrant Welfare Network (MWN). The organisation said the government should maintain greater transparency regarding official visits related to significant issues such as the Malaysian labour market.
