The Bangladesh Embassy in Libya has started collecting passports and outpasses from Bangladeshi nationals in Misrata and surrounding areas who wish to return home voluntarily, according to an embassy notice.

Nationals have been asked to submit their documents to an embassy representative between August 14 and 16.

In the notice, issued Wednesday, the embassy said it has maintained regular contact and coordination with relevant Libyan ministries, law enforcement agencies, international migration organisations and other stakeholders to speed up the repatriation process for nationals wishing to return voluntarily.

As part of this effort, 340 Bangladeshi nationals who wished to return voluntarily were repatriated on a special flight arranged by Libya's Ministry of Interior on August 6.

According to the notice, those submitting passports must bring the original document along with a photocopy, though only the original will be retained by the embassy. Nationals whose passports have been lost or have expired must instead submit an outpass, or travel permit.

To obtain an outpass, applicants must bring a copy of their passport, national ID card, or birth certificate; a recent photograph; and a fee of 14 US dollars.

Passports and outpasses will be collected from August 14 to 16 (Friday to Sunday)—from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday and from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Applicants have been asked to submit their documents at the Sarikatul Momayezoun office, located at the Africa Trade Centre in the Souk Tuanasa area of Misrata.
