Oman's two national carriers, Oman Air and SalamAir, have each announced new chief executives, according to a report by the Times of Oman.
Oman Air said it has appointed Nasser Al Sharji as chief executive officer, effective September 1, 2026. Al Sharji brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience across aviation, logistics, and oil and gas government services, having held senior positions at ASYAD Group, OQ, and Nama Water Services, where he led major national projects and organisational transformation initiatives, the report said.
He most recently served as CEO of Transom Handling and acting CEO of Oman Airports Management Company and holds an Executive MBA.
Saeed Al Mawali, Chairman of Oman Air and Oman's Minister of Transformation, Communications, and Information Technology, said Al Sharji brought a strong understanding of the aviation sector and a proven record of leading organisations through transformation and expressed confidence that he would build on the airline's recent progress and strengthen its position as the national carrier.
Al Mawali also thanked outgoing CEO Con Korfiatis, who has led Oman Air since May 2024, for steering the airline through a major period of transformation that included progress on financial sustainability and operational efficiency. Korfiatis will remain with the airline as advisor to the CEO to support the transition, according to the report.
Separately, SalamAir said it has appointed Eng. Yaqoob bin Saif bin Hamoud Al Kiyumi as chief executive officer, effective October 1, 2026.
The airline's board thanked outgoing CEO Adrian Hamilton-Manns for his leadership and contributions and said Al Kiyumi's appointment marked a new chapter for the airline as it pursues sustainable growth, operational excellence, and improved customer experience.
SalamAir said it remains committed to supporting the development of Oman's aviation and tourism sectors in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
