Qatar Airways and Philippine Airlines have expanded their strategic partnership to enhance global connectivity and extend loyalty programme benefits, the Gulf carrier said on Monday, as both airlines seek to widen market access and improve travel options for passengers.
In a press release issued on Monday, Qatar Airways said the expanded cooperation builds on a codeshare agreement launched in June 2025 and will unlock access to more than 40 additional destinations for travellers across Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
Beginning June 1, 2026, Philippine Airlines will place its “PR” code on Qatar Airways-operated flights linking Manila, Cebu, Clark, and Davao with Doha, allowing onward connections to more than 20 major European cities through Hamad International Airport, including Paris, Rome, and Frankfurt.
In return, Qatar Airways will add its “QR” code to selected Philippine Airlines domestic routes, enabling passengers arriving in Manila and Cebu to connect to popular tourist destinations such as Caticlan, the gateway to Boracay Island, and Puerto Princesa.
The airlines also announced a reciprocal partnership between Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club and Philippine Airlines’ Mabuhay Miles loyalty programmes, allowing members to earn and redeem rewards across both carriers’ networks.
Under the arrangement, Privilege Club members will be able to collect and spend Avios points on Philippine Airlines services across Southeast Asia, Australasia, and the United States, while Mabuhay Miles members will gain access to Qatar Airways’ extensive global network, including destinations in Europe and Africa.
The expansion marks the 26th airline partnership for Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club and broadens its footprint in Southeast Asia, according to the airline.
The move comes as international carriers increasingly deepen alliances and codeshare arrangements to widen route networks without deploying additional aircraft, while also offering seamless travel and integrated loyalty benefits to passengers.
For travellers, the expanded partnership is expected to provide greater booking flexibility, improved regional connectivity, and streamlined travel between the Philippines, the Gulf, and Europe through Doha, one of the region’s major aviation hubs.
Qatar Airways, named the “World’s Best Airline” by Skytrax in 2025, also highlighted its recent platinum performance recognition from aviation analytics firm Cirium for operational reliability. Philippine Airlines was recognised by Cirium as the Asia-Pacific region’s most punctual airline in 2025.
Industry analysts say the partnership may strengthen both airlines’ competitiveness in the fast-growing Asia-Gulf-Europe travel corridor, particularly amid rising demand for leisure and migrant travel between Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
