Riyadh Air unveils first indigo Dreamliner

Riyadh Air has released the first images of its first indigo-coloured Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which has emerged from Boeing's paint facility in Charleston, South Carolina, in the United States, the airline said in a press release.

The airline said the indigo-and-lavender design was inspired by spring desert blooms and Arabic calligraphy. It complements Riyadh Air's pearlescent white livery.

Riyadh Air expects every tenth aircraft in its fleet to carry the indigo livery, which it described as a distinctive marker of the airline's growth. The aircraft will be delivered in the near future, the airline said, and will soon be seen at one of the 15 airports it serves worldwide. The release did not give a delivery date.

Riyadh Air chief executive Tony Douglas said the sight of the first indigo aircraft leaving the paint shop was "a proud moment" for the airline.

"Inspired by the colors of spring desert blooms and the beauty of Arabic calligraphy, the indigo livery positions our brand with a striking presence that will stand out at airports across the world," Douglas said.

"Alongside our pearlescent livery, it reflects a modern, confident Saudi identity and marks another significant milestone as we have grown to 10 aircraft and 15 destinations in less than four months," he added.
