Seven airlines have joined the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) CO2 Connect programme, expanding industry participation in emissions reporting initiatives.

According to a post published on IATA’s official Facebook page during the IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Rio de Janeiro, the new participants are Airlink, Royal Brunei Airlines, Gulf Air, TAAG – Linhas Aéreas de Angola, EL AL, Philippine Airlines and Riyadh Air.

IATA said the airlines’ participation will help provide travellers with more accurate carbon emissions data. The association noted that CO2 Connect uses real operational data contributed directly by airlines, including aircraft type-specific fuel consumption information.

With the latest additions, more than 110 airlines are now contributing operational data to the programme, according to IATA.
