Turkish Airlines plans Dreamliner for Dhaka route in 2027

Turkish Airlines announced today that it plans to operate the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on its Dhaka route starting in 2027. The announcement was made by İslam GÃŧre, General Manager, Dhaka at Turkish Airlines, during a TK Connect NDC Workshop held at the Elite Convention Hall.

Addressing an audience of approximately 300 travel agency representatives, GÃŧre stated that the transition to the state-of-the-art aircraft is intended to upgrade the airline's service standards in the region. “This will significantly enhance the travel experience for our passengers,” GÃŧre said. “Our Business Class guests will enjoy an even more comfortable and premium journey with the Dreamliner's modern cabin, while our Economy Class passengers will also benefit from improved comfort with more ergonomic and flexible seating”.

The move signals a strategic investment in one of the airline’s key markets. GÃŧre emphasised that the deployment of the Dreamliner is a testament to the carrier’s dedication to its local partners and passengers. “This investment reflects our confidence in the Bangladesh market and our long-term commitment to growing together with all of you,” he told the attendees.

Turkish Airlines currently distinguishes itself as the only European carrier providing direct flight connectivity from Dhaka to Europe, serving 358 destinations worldwide. The airline has grown from its 1933 origins of five aircraft to a modern fleet of 562 passenger and cargo aircraft.

The announcement served as a centrepiece for the day’s workshop, which focused on the rollout of TK Connect, the airline’s New Distribution Capability (NDC) platform. The event included technical presentations by NDC Specialist Umut Sertaç YÄąlmaz and Marketing Officer (International) Ejaz Kadry, aimed at integrating Bangladeshi travel agencies into the airline's direct digital ecosystem.

The workshop concluded with a commitment from the airline to continue providing local partners with the "knowledge, support, and confidence" needed to utilise new technologies to remain competitive in the global travel marketplace.
