Turkish Airlines has marked 15 years of operations in Bangladesh by supporting an international half marathon in Dhaka, bringing together around 5,000 runners from home and abroad.

The "Turkish Airlines ActivePulse International Half Marathon 2026" was held at Hatirjheel in the capital, celebrating sports, healthy lifestyles and the power of connectivity, according to an airline press release, issued today.

The event held special significance for the Turkish flag carrier as it commemorates 15 years of connecting Bangladesh with Türkiye and destinations across its extensive global network.

Turkish Airlines served as the title sponsor of the event, which drew runners and supporters from different communities and highlighted the growing popularity of running and healthy lifestyles in Bangladesh.

"As we celebrate 15 years of Turkish Airlines' presence in Dhaka, we are delighted to mark this important milestone together with the people of Bangladesh through an event that reflects the values of movement, determination and connection," Turkish Airlines Dhaka General Manager İslam Güre said.

He said sport has a unique ability to bring people together, much as aviation connects people, cultures and destinations around the world.

Turkish Airlines currently operates seven weekly flights between Dhaka and Istanbul, providing onward connectivity for Bangladeshi passengers to destinations across its global network.

Established in 1933, Turkish Airlines is a member of Star Alliance and currently operates a fleet of 566 passenger and cargo aircraft, serving 358 destinations in 133 countries, according to the release.
