UAP, CGS host dialogue on proposed FY2026â27 national budget

A high-level dialogue titled "The Fiscal Compass 2026: Beyond the Numbers, Shaping Bangladeshâs Future" on the proposed National Budget for FY 2026â2027 was held at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) Auditorium on 22 June 2026, jointly organized by the University of Asia Pacific and the Centre for Governance Studies (CGS).
Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury attended the event as the guest of honour. The keynote address was delivered by Professor Dr. M. A. Baqui Khalily, Dean of the School of Business at UAP, while CGS President Zillur Rahman moderated the discussion.
The panel included KM Mozibul Hoque, Chairman of the UAP Board of Trustees; Professor Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Acting Vice Chancellor of UAP; Dr. Selim Jahan, Economist and Professorial Fellow at BIGD; economist and banker Mamun Rashid; Dr. Mohammad Mainul Islam, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Dhaka; Simeen Rahman, Group CEO of Transcom Limited; Anwar-Ul Alam Chowdhury Parvez, President of BCI and Chairman of Evince Group; Dr. Mohammad Abdur Razzaque, Economist and Chairman of RAPID; Parvez Karim Abbasi, Executive Director of CGS and Economist; Dr. Mahmood Osman Imam, Professor of Finance and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies at the University of Dhaka; Mahtab Osmani, Deputy Managing Director of Bank Asia and Director of CFA Society Bangladesh; and Dr. Md. Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan, Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council under the Ministry of Finance.
The dialogue focused on the proposed national budget's fiscal priorities, economic governance, investment climate and sustainable growth, bringing together policymakers, economists, academics, business leaders and financial experts to discuss Bangladesh's economic outlook and policy direction.
