The British High Commission in Dhaka announced the opening of applications for the 2027–2028 Chevening Scholarships, calling on Bangladeshi professionals to apply for fully funded master's-level study in the United Kingdom.

The announcement was posted Tuesday on the verified Facebook page of the UK High Commission, which described the scholarship as an opportunity for “future leaders” who are “ready to influence positive change in areas of shared priority for Bangladesh and the UK.”

According to the post, the scholarship offers recipients a world-class education, the chance to build a lasting relationship with the UK, and access to a global network of influential alumni.

Applications will close on Tuesday, 6 October at 11:00 UTC, according to the High Commission and the official Chevening website, chevening.org.

Chevening is the UK government's international scholarships programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) together with partner organisations. It supports one-year taught master's degrees at UK universities for individuals with demonstrated leadership potential and a commitment to using their studies to drive change in their home countries.

To be eligible, applicants must be citizens of a Chevening-eligible country or territory with an undergraduate degree that makes them eligible to apply for a postgraduate degree at a UK university and have a minimum of 2,800 hours of work experience (approximately two years) after completing an undergraduate degree.

Successful candidates must also apply for three eligible UK university courses and receive an unconditional offer for at least one before the stated deadline. They must also commit to returning to their home country for at least two years after completing the scholarship.

The scholarship, which has been running since 1983, has so far supported more than 370 Bangladeshi scholars, according to earlier statements issued by the British High Commission in Dhaka. Recipients have moved on to positions in government, the private sector, and academia.

Applicants are asked to read the eligibility criteria and application guidance on the Chevening website before submitting their application online at chevening.org/apply.
