27 ministry officials get first-ever aviation training

A training course titled "Indoctrination Training on Civil Aviation," held for the first time for officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, has concluded. Participants received certificates at a closing ceremony at the Civil Aviation Academy on Friday.


The course was organized by the Civil Aviation Academy of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB). The objective was to provide ministry officials with a fundamental and comprehensive comprehension of civil aviation, according to a press release from the CAAB.


Twenty-seven ministry officials took part. The course ran for five days in total: Sept 18-19, Sept 25-26, and Oct 2.


CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmud Siddiq was chief guest at the closing ceremony. Ministry Joint Secretary Md Julkar Nayan was also present.


Also present were CAAB Member (Operations and Planning) Air Commodore Abu Saeed Mehbub Khan, Member (Administration) S M Lablur Rahman, Member (ATM) Air Commodore Md Nur-E-Alam, Member (Flight Standards and Regulations) Air Commodore Md Monirul Islam, Member (Finance) Mohammad Nazmul Haque, Chief Engineer Md Zakaria Hossain, Civil Aviation Academy Director Prashanta Kumar Chakraborty and other officials concerned.


The course covered civil aviation policy and procedure, flight safety and regulation, aviation security, and air transport economics. It also included discussions on the work of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and international obligations. To give participants hands-on understanding of airport operations, they were taken on visits to Terminal 3 of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the Air Traffic Management Centre, the apron, and the fire station.


Speaking as the chief guest, the CAAB chairman said that a shared, integrated knowledge of civil aviation would strengthen coordination between the ministry and CAAB. He said it would also play an important role in the development of the country's aviation sector.


Speaking on behalf of the trainees, Ministry Deputy Secretary Mohammad Mahbub Alam said the course gave officials a practical and integrated understanding of various civil aviation activities. He said the knowledge would help them in their duties and make their contributions to the sector's development more effective.


Civil Aviation Academy Director Prashanta Kumar Chakraborty said the training would further enhance the skills and knowledge of ministry officials. He said they would be able to play a more effective role in developing the country's civil aviation sector in line with ICAO standards and recommended practices.
