Sheikh Bashir Uddin, the Commerce and Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser, visited the Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital on Wednesday to meet with Mohana, an 11-year-old domestic help who has been subjected to torture.
During the visit this evening, the Adviser consulted with the doctors to ascertain the child's physical condition and directed the hospital authorities to guarantee the highest quality of medical care.
Addressing the child during the visit, Sheikh Bashir Uddin offered words of comfort, stating, "Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus himself sent me to look after you. You have nothing to fear; we are by your side."
The Advisor condemned the act of violence, asserting that such cruelty is unacceptable in a civilized society. He also stated that the perpetrators would receive the deserved punishment in both this life and the afterlife.
Dr. Aminul Islam, Director of the hospital, Mohammad Alam Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur, and D. Humayra Sultana, Additional Secretary of the Ministry and Managing Director of Biman, accompanied the Commerce Adviser during the hospital visit.
Mohana was admitted to the hospital on January 31 with severe injuries. Accusations of torturing the young girl led to the arrest of Safiqur Rahman, the former Managing Director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, on February 2.
