Air New Zealand announced on Tuesday that it will reduce flight services and increase ticket prices during May and June, citing a sharp surge in jet fuel costs triggered by the ongoing Iran conflict.

The airline said it will consolidate about 4% of its scheduled flights over the two-month period, impacting roughly 1% of passengers planning to travel. This marks the carrier’s second round of flight reductions within a month.

“Like airlines worldwide, we are facing jet fuel prices that are more than double their usual levels,” a company spokesperson said.

Customers affected by the changes will begin receiving notifications from 2100 GMT Monday, with all alerts expected to be completed by the end of the week.

Earlier in March, the airline had already announced a 5% reduction in flights through early May, shortly after the conflict began.

The situation has been further complicated by disruptions at key aviation hubs across the Middle East, adding pressure on global air travel operations. (Reuters)
