BERC raises domestic jet fuel price to Tk 189.03

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has raised the price of jet fuel (Jet A-1) for domestic flights for November and lowered it for international flights, it said in a press release on Thursday.

The new price for domestic flights is 189.03 taka a litre including duties and value-added tax (VAT), up 6.32 taka from the 182.71 taka set on October 7.

For international flights by local and foreign airlines, the price is 1.1637 US dollars a litre excluding duties and VAT, down 0.0245 dollars from 1.1882 dollars.

BERC said the prices take effect from midnight on November 5 and were set using the average Platts rate in the international market from October 5 to November 4.

The commission held a public hearing on Thursday on proposals from Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and Padma Oil Company Limited, under sections 34(4) and 34(6) of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act, 2003. It considered the detailed Platts prices and the US dollar exchange rate used by BPC to settle letters of credit.

According to media reports, the domestic price was 95.12 taka a litre in February, before the war in the Middle East began, and it reached 227.08 taka in April.
