Bangladesh Nationalist Party has pledged to send 1 crore workers abroad within five years and ensure fair wages based on price index for all labourers, according to its labour and expatriate welfare manifesto.

This is mentioned in the party’s Election Manifesto 2026 draft summary, dated February 1.

Party promised to provide training and allowances to registered workers at upazila level while sending poor workers abroad at zero or minimal cost. Easy-term loans up to TK 10 lakh will be made available for migrant workers.

BNP announced introduction of ‘Probashi Card’ (expatriate card) containing workers' information, skills and job conditions. Card will link to bank payment gateways with simplified remittance facilities and additional incentives for money transfers.

Manifesto commits to six months paid maternity leave for female workers, equal pay for equal work, and pension systems in state-owned industries. Party pledged to reopen closed factories and ensure fair-priced food supply for workers.

“Workers will receive fair wages based on price index and inflation”, manifesto reads, promising protection of trade union rights and social security for informal sector workers.

BNP outlined measures to reduce migration costs, resolve trolley shortages at airports, and improve food quality. Party promised strict monitoring of luggage facility security and diplomatic steps to secure expatriate rights including human rights protection.

Manifesto included plans to establish Overseas Skills Investment Park, Migration Market Research Institute and Foreign Language E-Learning Centre. One-Stop Probashi Support Centre will be set up under Welfare Board with support centres and legal divisions at embassies.

Party pledged rehabilitation and compensation for workplace accident victims, measures to prevent child labour and forced labour, and support for workers facing death, accidents or job loss abroad. Returned migrants will receive employment assistance, family education and health protection.
