Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL) has warned Bangladeshi workers seeking employment in South Korea under the Employment Permit System (EPS) not to share personal information, passwords, or verification codes with anyone, according to a notice issued by the agency.

BOESL said in the warning that unauthorised individuals or fraud rings may contact prospective workers while posing as BOESL, HRD Korea, EPS, or Korean employers, and it urged workers to remain alert to such scams.

The agency listed several categories of information that should not be shared, including National ID (NID) numbers, email addresses, and other contact details, as well as BOESL/EPS-related user IDs, passwords, OTPs, PINs, and verification codes. Workers were also advised not to disclose information related to their job roster or employment status to others.

According to the notice, workers should not respond to requests for such information received via WhatsApp, Messenger, Facebook, IMO, or email. BOESL specifically cautioned against sharing OTPs, passwords, PINs, or verification codes under any circumstances.

The agency said that anyone contacted by a person claiming to represent BOESL, HRD Korea, EPS, or a Korean employer should verify that person's identity and the authenticity of their claims before proceeding. Workers who fall victim to fraud or encounter suspicious contact should reach out to the relevant authorities.

The warning primarily protects the personal and application-related information of Bangladeshi workers seeking employment abroad under the EPS programme.
