Bangladesh's Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) inaugurated a five-day Training Instructors Course (TIC) at the Civil Aviation Academy in Dhaka on Saturday, in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), as part of efforts to align the country's aviation training infrastructure with global standards.
The course, running from April 5 to 9, 2026, is designed to equip aviation professionals with the skills required to deliver training that meets ICAO's internationally recognised benchmarks.
Officers from various departments of CAAB are participating in the programme, and successful candidates will receive an ICAO-issued certificate upon completion.
Air Commodore Abu Sayeed Mehboob Khan, CAAB Member for Operations and Planning, presided over the inaugural ceremony, emphasizing the necessity of modernising the sector's training capacity.
He noted that the aviation industry worldwide had grown increasingly competitive and technology-driven and that bringing instruction up to ICAO standards would make Bangladesh's civil aviation more advanced, efficient, and safe.
"Without producing quality instructors, sustainable human resource development in the aviation sector is not possible. This kind of course will also create opportunities for instructors to work at the international level in the future," he added.
The course is being conducted by Prashanta Kumar Chakraborty, Director of the Civil Aviation Academy and an ICAO-certified instructor. He said the curriculum is built around ICAO's competency-based training methodology, covering modern instructional techniques, presentation skills, assessment methods, and training planning—all delivered with a practical orientation.
"Upon successfully completing this course, instructors will be capable of delivering training in line with international standards, which will make a significant contribution to improving the overall quality of the country's aviation sector," Chakraborty said.
Deputy Director of Air Traffic Management at the Civil Aviation Academy, Mohammad Mozibur Rahman Miaji, was also in attendance as a special guest at the opening.
