The High Commission of Canada to Bangladesh issued a stern public warning Tuesday against immigration fraud, cautioning that applicants caught submitting forged or falsified documents face a mandatory minimum five-year ban from entering or remaining in Canada.

In a bilingual notice posted on its verified Facebook page, the mission said thousands of visa applications are rejected every month due to immigration fraud, urging all prospective applicants to submit only genuine documentation.

"Those that get caught submitting fake and fraudulent documents in their Canadian visa application are legally banned from entering or remaining in Canada for at least five years," the High Commission stated, adding that the consequences "are not worth the risk."

The advisory was issued as part of the mission's ongoing #FightingVisaFraud campaign.

Under Canadian immigration law, deliberate misrepresentation—including the submission of counterfeit financial records, employment letters, or academic credentials—constitutes a serious offence that can render an individual inadmissible not only under the current application but potentially across future visa categories as well.

The High Commission directed applicants seeking further guidance to the official Government of Canada website on the consequences of immigration fraud.
