Dassault Aviation, a French manufacturer of military aircraft and business jets, has unveiled the Dassault Falcon 10X, a new flagship aircraft designed to set a benchmark for comfort, range, and technology in business aviation, the company said in a press release issued Tuesday.
The aircraft was presented during a ceremony attended by more than 400 customers, partners and aviation executives at Dassault’s production site in Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport, where the jet was rolled out as the manufacturer’s most ambitious business aircraft to date.
Dassault said the Falcon 10X features the largest cabin ever designed for a purpose-built business jet, aiming to transform long-distance travel by allowing passengers to treat time in the air as an extension of their normal working or living environment.
“The objective is to allow passengers to experience time on board the aircraft as just another part of their everyday life, not as a long interval between origin and destination,” said Eric Trappier. “So they arrive feeling refreshed and at their very best.”
According to the company, the cabin is eight inches wider and two inches taller than its nearest competitor, allowing owners to configure interiors that resemble living or working spaces rather than traditional aircraft cabins. The jet can be equipped with three- or four-zone layouts, including dining areas, private suites, bedrooms, and optional showers.
The aircraft is designed for ultra-long-range missions, with a maximum range of about 7,500 nautical miles and a top speed of Mach 0.925, enabling direct connections between major city pairs such as New York and Shanghai, Los Angeles and Sydney, or Beijing and Paris.
Dassault said the jet will also incorporate innovations derived from its military aircraft programmes, reflecting the company’s role as a manufacturer of both fighter jets and business aircraft. The Falcon 10X will feature business aviation’s first all-composite wing, intended to improve aerodynamic efficiency while maintaining the short-runway capability associated with the Falcon family.
Inside the cockpit, the aircraft introduces the NeXus flight deck, which integrates large touchscreen displays and advanced automation tools aimed at reducing pilot workload and improving situational awareness. The system includes a dual FalconEye enhanced vision system designed to assist operations in low-visibility conditions.
The aircraft will also use the third generation of Dassault’s digital fly-by-wire flight control system, first introduced in the Falcon 7X in 2007, along with a “Smart Throttle” control inspired by the Dassault Rafale combat jet.
Power for the Falcon 10X will come from the Rolls‑Royce Pearl 10X engine developed by Rolls‑Royce. The engine delivers more than 18,000 pounds of thrust while aiming to improve efficiency, reduce noise, and lower emissions.
“Today is a very special day for Rolls-Royce and the team. We are excited and proud to deliver the thrust for this extraordinary aircraft,” said Dr Dirk Geisinger, director of business aviation at Rolls-Royce.
With the unveiling completed, the Falcon 10X programme will now move toward the flight-testing phase, Dassault said. The aircraft will undergo a series of evaluation flights to validate performance before entering service, marking the next step in the company’s push to strengthen its position in the ultra-long-range business jet market.
