Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md. Daud Ali today urged Japanese investors to expand investment in Bangladesh, highlighting attractive incentives, world-class infrastructure and the country’s growing economic potential.

The call came at a Bangladesh Business Seminar held at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo to promote bilateral trade and investment, according to a press release received here. 

The seminar was jointly organised by the Bangladesh Embassy in Japan and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), bringing together Japanese business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, government officials and representatives from various sectors.

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Daud Ali recalled the longstanding friendship between Bangladesh and Japan and stressed the need to elevate bilateral economic and commercial relations to a new height.

He said Bangladesh has emerged as one of the fastest-growing economies in South Asia and offers attractive opportunities for foreign investors through modern infrastructure, Export Processing Zones (EPZs) and high-tech parks.

Highlighting government incentives, including tax holidays, duty exemptions and full repatriation of capital, the ambassador invited Japanese businesses to invest in Bangladesh on a larger scale.

He expressed optimism that Japan’s technology and expertise, combined with Bangladesh’s large pool of skilled young workers, could create mutually beneficial opportunities for both countries.

Political Counsellor Muhammad Safiul Azam and Commercial Counsellor Morarji Desai Barman of the embassy made separate presentations on Bangladesh’s emerging business opportunities and investment prospects.

Their presentations highlighted Bangladesh’s investment policies, strategic advantages, sustainable development achievements and export potential beyond the ready-made garment sector, including leather and jute products, pharmaceuticals and plastics.

President of the Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) Tarek Rafi Bhuiyan Jun shared insights into recent developments and practical investment experiences in Bangladesh.

President and CEO of SUN Co., Ltd. Shumpei Nakasone underscored the potential for engaging Bangladesh’s skilled workforce in Japan’s technology sector, drawing on his company’s experience of doing business in Bangladesh.

During an open discussion session at the end of the seminar, Japanese entrepreneurs and business representatives expressed keen interest in investment opportunities in Bangladesh.

Participants hoped that the seminar would contribute to further strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations between Bangladesh and Japan.
