The Farnborough International Airshow 2026 kicked off Monday with a flurry of commercial and defence deals, ranging from engine selections to helicopter orders, aviation news outlet Simple Flying reported.


Honeywell Aerospace led the announcements, partnering with Mexican flag carrier Aeromexico to install SURF-A runway safety technology across its fleet of more than 100 Boeing 737 jets. Separately, Honeywell was selected by IndiGo to supply avionics, auxiliary power units, and aftermarket support for 810 new Airbus A320neo family aircraft, according to the report.


Japan's Skymark Airlines signed a lease agreement with Aviation Capital Group for seven Boeing 737 MAX 10 narrowbody jets, with deliveries beginning in 2028. According to Simple Flying, the aircraft will support the carrier's fleet expansion and capacity growth on key routes from Tokyo's Haneda Airport.


The UK's National Police Air Service (NPAS) placed the show's first Airbus order, committing to two additional H135 helicopters. The deal brings the force's fleet renewal programme to a total of nine H135s, with deliveries expected in 2028 at Airbus's facility in Oxford, England.


British Airways also announced it had selected Pratt & Whitney GTF engines for up to 63 incoming Airbus A320neo aircraft — 33 firm orders and 30 options. Deliveries are set to begin in 2027, backed by a 12-year maintenance agreement with the engine maker, the outlet reported.


Monday's flying display featured a mix of civilian and military aircraft, including the Red Devils parachute team, a US Air Force F-35A Lightning II, and the Airbus A350-1000.


Simple Flying said its coverage of the airshow would continue throughout the week as more announcements are expected.
