A HondaJet overshot the runway while landing at Yao Airport near Osaka on Thursday, crashing through the airport's perimeter fence before coming to a stop, but all four people on board escaped without injury, Japanese aviation authorities said.

According to the Osaka Aviation Bureau, the HondaJet HA-420 landed at around 5:30 p.m. local time before running off the end of the runway. The aircraft breached the airport's perimeter fence and came to rest outside the runway area.

The jet had departed from Narita Airport near Tokyo and was carrying four people, including the pilot, a doctor, and two others, all of whom safely evacuated the aircraft, authorities said.

The aircraft is operated by the Tokushukai Group, one of Japan's largest hospital operators. Based at Yao Airport, the jet is used to transport medical personnel to remote islands and regional hospitals.

The cause of the runway excursion was not immediately known. Japanese authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

The HondaJet has been involved in several runway excursion incidents in recent years. However, Honda Aircraft has previously said investigations into those events found no defects in the aircraft's design or systems.
