Hotline and free wifi services deliver real benefits to travelers at Dhaka’s airport

At Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA), new passenger‑services including a 24‑hour hotline and free Wi‑Fi are not just on paper, travelers are reporting tangible relief and improved travel experiences.

The complimentary internet service is available at both arrival and departure terminals, provided through four companies: ADN Telecom, BRAC Net, Amara and Beximco. Passengers connect by selecting a network, giving their mobile number and name at the desk and receiving an OTP to activate.

Meanwhile, according to recent reporting, HSIA has upgraded across the board: 24‑hour help desks, telephone booths for free calls, fast bag‑delivery and reduced harassment are among the improvements. In this context the free Wi‑Fi has been especially welcomed by travelers arriving without a local SIM card, giving them immediate connectivity, enabling WhatsApp calls or arranging onward transport without delay.

One returning expatriate commented that he arrived worrying about how to connect or coordinate pickup, but was able to use the airport Wi‑Fi and make calls instantly, a change from past experiences of waiting in queues or relying on uncertain local networks.

Airport officials explained that the digital services are part of their thrust to make the facility more passenger‑friendly and efficient. The improvements are especially meaningful for workers travelling overseas, their families seeing off migrants, and first‑time flyers who may be unfamiliar with the airport process.

Still, some users note that access may hinge on having either a local mobile number or help‑desk assistance, which may create hurdles for certain foreign travellers. Nevertheless, for a large number of users the free Wi‑Fi and hotline appear to be making a real difference in comfort, connectivity and travel‑stress reduction.

For your news‑desk: HSIA’s hotline (13600/09614‑013600) and free Wi‑Fi are operational services now aiding passengers, a welcome development for aviation & tourism reporting.
