Jazeera Airways will launch Dhaka-Kuwait flights via Dammam from April 12 following Kuwait airport closure due to Middle East tensions and Iranian missile attack damage.
Service will operate three days weekly on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Bangladesh embassy efforts secured the arrangement after Bangladeshi expatriates faced difficulties returning home when Kuwait airport partially shut down following missile strike.
Ambassador Major General Syed Tareq Hussain confirmed Jazeera Airlines will handle complete transit arrangements including Saudi Arabia transit visa and road transport. Passengers must check in at Hall Number 8 at Mushref Trade Fair Ground, travel by bus to Dammam, then board flights to Dhaka.
Transit visa is mandatory for valid iqama holders. Visa costs will be included in ticket price. Tickets available online or through agents.
Limited flights operated through Saudi Arabia after airport closure, creating long waits for Bangladeshi workers. Expatriates expressed relief at new arrangement but requested lower fares.
One expatriate said, “People working here, especially in companies, earn very low salaries. Coming up with so much money is very difficult for them. We hope the embassy and Bangladesh government will try to reduce the fare quickly so we can travel affordably.”
Ambassador Hossain said arrangement will increase opportunities for families to reunite. Embassy is providing support and discussing additional flight options.
Analysts suggest road service launch will boost passenger and cargo transport while keeping market supplies normal. Visit visa holders are advised to verify transit regulations before travel.
Embassy continues negotiations for more flight connections as regional security situation affects aviation operations. Service aims to ease travel disruption for thousands of Bangladeshi workers in Kuwait.
