The US Embassy in Dhaka has warned visa applicants and holders that misusing a visa or overstaying the permitted period could lead to a permanent ban on future travel to the United States.

In a notice posted on its official Facebook page on Saturday, the embassy said visa holders are responsible for using their visas correctly.

The notice also said consular officers are aware of any past immigration law violations by an applicant. The warning urged applicants to tell the truth during visa interviews, as lying could lead to a ban on entering the United States.
