Malaysia Airlines, as chair of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) for 2026, will host the association’s 70th Assembly of Presidents in Kuala Lumpur on November 12 and 13, the airline said on Friday.

The meeting brings together leaders from AAPA’s 18 member airlines under the theme “Redefining Aviation: Growth, Resilience and Innovation”, Malaysia Airlines said. Topics include operational resilience, supply chain pressures, sustainable aviation and closer regional collaboration. The Assembly will be opened by Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Transport, Datuk Haji Hasbi bin Haji Habibollah, and will include government representatives, regulators and industry partners.

Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar, President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Aviation Group, said the industry continues to operate in a complex environment, including supply chain bottlenecks, rising operating costs and geopolitical developments. He said that a unified voice through AAPA helps Asia Pacific airlines bring shared priorities forward and engage more effectively on industry issues.

Wong Hong, AAPA’s Director General, said Asia Pacific airlines face softening demand alongside rising fuel costs, supply chain constraints and operational uncertainty. He said “sustaining growth will require closer regional cooperation”, resilient operations and continued investment in people and infrastructure. He added that new technologies and artificial intelligence can help the industry respond faster and serve passengers better.

Malaysia Airlines said it continues to connect Malaysia with destinations across Asia Pacific and beyond through Kuala Lumpur, and that it supports the country’s Visit Malaysia 2026-2027 campaign.
