Bangladeshi expatriates living in Malaysia can now register
for postal voting after authorities upgraded the 'Postal Vote BD' mobile app,
officials announced.
Registration reopened on 30 November at 5:15 PM Malaysian
time (3:15 PM Bangladesh time) and will run without interruption until 11:59 PM
on 18 December 2025. Process had been suspended during the app upgrade.
Expatriates must provide accurate mailing addresses to receive postal ballots abroad. Authorities said voters may use addresses of friends, relatives, or nearby well-known institutions or buildings if needed.
Officials strongly urged all eligible Bangladeshi voters in
Malaysia to complete registration as quickly as possible to avoid missing the
deadline.
Malaysia hosts a significant Bangladeshi expatriate
community. Postal voting allows citizens living abroad to participate in
national elections without returning home.
Registration requires downloading the 'Postal Vote BD' app
and submitting necessary documentation through the platform. Exact number of
Bangladeshi voters currently residing in Malaysia was not disclosed.
Deadline falls during mid-December, giving expatriates
roughly two and half weeks to register. Officials emphasized importance of
completing the process early to ensure ballots reach voters in time.
Similar postal voting arrangements exist for Bangladeshi
citizens in other countries, though specific timelines and procedures vary by
location.
