Probashi Kallyan Bank introduces collateral-free loans for language training abroad

The Probashi Kallyan Bank has launched a new initiative to support aspiring migrant workers, offering collateral-free loans of up to Tk 10 lakh for enrollment in language courses abroad.

Under this program, eligible candidates can receive financial assistance to pursue language training in countries including Japan, South Korea, China, and Germany, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment on Tuesday.

The initiative is designed to enhance the skills and employability of Bangladeshi workers in the global job market by equipping them with essential language proficiency.

The move forms part of the government's broader strategy to develop a skilled workforce and expand overseas employment opportunities for Bangladeshi nationals.

By eliminating the collateral requirement, the ministry aims to make financing accessible to a wider pool of applicants — particularly young people from financially constrained backgrounds who may have previously been unable to pursue such opportunities.

The ministry further emphasized that strong language training will help workers overcome workplace communication barriers, improve professional integration, and increase the likelihood of higher earnings abroad.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the loan, applicants must meet the following conditions:

Residency: Must be a permanent resident within the jurisdiction of the applying branch.

Offer Letter: Must hold a valid offer letter from an accredited educational institution in the intended destination country.

Language Proficiency: Must possess a minimum intermediate-level language proficiency certificate

recognized in the destination country — for example, JLPT N5 for Japan or TOPIK Level 3 for South Korea.

Age Limit: Must be no older than 40 years of age at the time of application.

Course Duration: Applicable for short-term courses only, with a maximum duration of two years.
