Hans Zimmer-Qatar Airways
Qatar Airways on Friday unveiled new onboard signature music created in partnership with composer Hans Zimmer and said passengers can hear it on its flights from the same day.
The airline said the music was inspired by Qatar and its culture and is meant to give its passenger experience a distinctive sound identity. It also appears on "Burgundy Symphony," a five-track album that Qatar Airways described as capturing its wider sound identity and signature sound elements.
The launch was marked at Zimmer's concert in Doha on Nov 6. Audiences there saw a specially made film about the creative process and inspiration behind the album, along with a preview of the music, the airline said.
Qatar Airways said each of the five tracks reflects a different stage of a journey:
-- "Dawn" conveys the anticipation of stepping beyond daily routine and discovering new horizons.
-- "Dusk" reflects the calm of flying as daylight fades above the clouds.
-- "The Orchard" is a restorative pause. The airline said it draws on the sense of escape offered by the ORCHARD, one of the passenger experiences at Hamad International Airport, its Doha hub.
-- "Homecoming" is about returning home and the lasting ways travel enriches life.
-- "An Ode to Qatar" closes the album as a tribute to the country's heritage and forward-looking vision.
The album is now available on the Qatar Airways YouTube channel, the airline said.
The press release did not include comments from Zimmer or Qatar Airways executives and gave no details on how the music will be used on board, such as at boarding, in the cabin, or in the entertainment system. It also did not mention the financial terms of the partnership.
Qatar Airways flies to more than 170 destinations this winter through Hamad International Airport, according to the airline.
