SalamAir, Oman’s low-cost carrier, marked its 9th anniversary with a trade engagement event in Dhaka, announcing expansion plans including three new aircraft and multiple route launches this year.

Event on Thursday was hosted by AeroWing Aviation Limited, SalamAir’s General Sales Agent in Bangladesh, at a capital’s hotel.

Airline operated over 22 thousand flights last year, carrying more than 34 lakh passengers across 44 destinations.

Jamil Haji Ismail Al Balushi, Ambassador of Sultanate of Oman to Bangladesh, attended the celebration alongside senior industry representatives.

SalamAir plans to receive three new aircraft in mid-2026 to strengthen operations. Airline launched flights to Port Sudan in January this year and announced new routes to Damascus in May, Vienna in June and Medan in July.

Muhammad Ariful Islam Rajan said, Bangladesh remains an important market for SalamAir. Airline currently operates 20 weekly flights from Dhaka and Chattogram using A321neo aircraft, offering seamless connectivity to Middle East and beyond.

“Bangladesh continues to be an important market for SalamAir,” Rajan said, noting the airline provides passengers comfortable and efficient travel experience through its expanded network.

Over nine years, SalamAir has built a strong reputation for offering affordable and dependable air travel. Event concluded with renewed commitment to support Bangladeshi travel trade and meet growing outbound travel demand from the market.

Expansion plans signal confidence in Bangladesh’s aviation sector, particularly for Middle Eastern connectivity serving business travellers, migrant workers and tourists.

Md. Nasser Shahrear Zahedee, Chairman of AeroWing, M A Latif Shahrear Zahedee, Managing Director of AeroWing, and Muhammad Ariful Islam Rajan, Country Manager of SalamAir Bangladesh, were present. Leading travel agencies from across the country participated.
