Saudi Arabia has issued guidelines for Umrah pilgrims during Ramadan to ensure safety, orderly movement and uninterrupted worship at holy sites.

Authorities announced the directives as part of a coordinated operational plan prioritising crowd control, rapid emergency response and smooth movement during prayers. Guidelines become particularly crucial during last ten nights of Ramadan when lakhs of worshippers gather at Masjid al-Haram.

Digital indicators have been installed at mosque entrances showing real-time capacity. Green signal indicates prayer space available while red means full. Pilgrims must follow instructions from security personnel, directional signboards and designated walking paths.

Authorities urged visitors to use public transport during peak hours. Private vehicles will face restrictions in central areas, with designated parking and shuttle services available at city outskirts.

Motorcycles, bicycles and unauthorised vehicles are banned in pedestrian zones. Pilgrims should avoid congestion at entrances, corridors and emergency exits, leaving promptly after prayers.

Special arrangements include separate prayer areas, priority pathways and electric carts for elderly worshippers and persons with special needs. Families are advised against bringing children to crowded areas during prayer times, particularly in last ten nights.

Authorities emphasised adequate hydration, sufficient rest and avoiding excessive heat. Pilgrims should seek immediate medical attention if needed and stay aware of emergency exit routes at accommodations.

Visitors must obtain official Umrah permits through digital platforms and follow assigned schedules to reduce crowding. Carrying weapons, smoking, begging, selling unauthorised goods, obstructing movement or entering maintenance zones are strictly prohibited.

Authorities requested immediate reporting of suspicious activities. Guidelines stress respecting natural crowd flow and maintaining patience during movement.

Fire safety measures include avoiding electrical overload and keeping fire extinguishers accessible. Pilgrims should secure personal belongings and comply with all safety protocols throughout their stay.
