The United States has announced a $235,000 grant to restore the historic Mughal-era Musa Khan Mosque at Dhaka University (DU), strengthening cultural cooperation with Bangladesh.

The grant, provided under the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP), was announced by U.S. Ambassador Brent T. Christensen at an event at Curzon Hall at Dhaka University.

Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury and Director General of the Department of Archaeology Sabina Alam were present.

The project will be implemented in partnership with the Department of Archaeology to restore the mosque’s Islamic architectural features, create a permanent digital archive and train young architects in heritage preservation.

The initiative is part of a broader 25-year cultural partnership between Bangladesh and the United States, under which more than $1 million has been invested in 13 preservation projects across the country.
