The US Embassy in Dhaka has reminded visa holders that possessing a valid US visa does not guarantee entry into the United States, cautioning that violating visa terms could result in a permanent travel ban.

In a notice posted on its verified Facebook page on Saturday, 26 September, the embassy said the duration and conditions of a traveller's entry are determined by an immigration officer at the US port of entry, not by the visa itself.

"If you remain in the United States beyond your authorized period of stay or engage in activities not permitted under your visa category, you could face a permanent ban on traveling to the United States in the future," the notice read, adding in bold that "it is your responsibility to use your visa correctly."

The embassy's post, shared in both English and Bengali, comes amid heightened scrutiny of visa compliance by US authorities.
