Embraer will take part in the Brazilian Agricultural Aviation Congress from August 18 to 20 in Goianápolis, in the central state of Goiás, showcasing the Ipanema 203, the country's best-selling crop duster with more than 50 percent market share in its segment, the Brazilian planemaker said in a press release dated August 13.
The aircraft, powered by ethanol for over two decades, will perform a demonstration flight during the congress for operators, farmers, and other participants. Embraer said the model has become a benchmark for operational efficiency and sustainability in Brazilian agribusiness after more than 20 years of running entirely on ethanol fuel.
Beyond the flight demonstration, Embraer representatives are set to join discussions with figures from across the agricultural sector on the challenges facing Brazilian agricultural aviation, including the role of technology in improving productivity, field sustainability, and operational safety.
"This is an important opportunity to showcase solutions that help increase the efficiency of agricultural operations," said Sany Onofre, Embraer's Agricultural Aviation leader, adding that the congress—organized by the National Agricultural Aviation Companies Union (SINDAG)—brings together the sector to discuss productivity, safety, and cost efficiency.
According to Embraer, more than 1,700 Ipanema aircraft have been delivered to date, making it Brazil's best-selling agricultural aircraft. The ethanol-powered model can spray over 200 hectares per hour, an output the company compares to four large ground sprayers running at once. Embraer says the aircraft also helps reduce crop damage caused by ground equipment and limits the spread of pests through soil contact, potentially raising yields by up to 15 bags per hectare depending on the crop and operating conditions.
Embraer, headquartered in Botucatu, São Paulo state, operates in the commercial aviation, executive aviation, defense and security, and agricultural aviation segments. Founded in 1969, the company has delivered more than 9,000 aircraft to date and says one of its planes takes off somewhere in the world roughly every 10 seconds, carrying well over 150 million passengers a year.
