Etihad Airways on Monday began daily Airbus A380 flights between Abu Dhabi and Bangkok, bringing the superjumbo to Thailand for the first time, the airline said.
The inaugural service touched down in the Thai capital on Monday morning. The A380 will operate daily between Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport and Bangkok, giving the route more capacity, Etihad said in a press release.
The introduction coincides with the start of the peak winter travel season, which the airline said is supporting strong demand for travel between Thailand, the Middle East, and Europe. It follows the launch of the A380 on Etihad’s daily Abu Dhabi-Tokyo service in June 2026.
The flights are EY402, departing Abu Dhabi at 9:20pm and arriving in Bangkok at 6:35am the next day, and EY403, departing Bangkok at 8:35am and arriving in Abu Dhabi at 12:20pm. All times are local.
Etihad Chief Executive Antonoaldo Neves described the arrival as a major accomplishment and said it reflects investment behind customer demand. “Thailand is an important premium market for Etihad, and deploying our flagship aircraft allows us to increase capacity while bringing our most distinctive guest experience to the route,” he said.
Neves added that the airline sees opportunity across Thailand and the wider Asian market. He said Bangkok joining the A380 network is part of an expansion in capacity and connectivity through Abu Dhabi.
The aircraft brings Etihad’s four-cabin layout to Thailand. At the top is The Residence, a 125-square-foot, three-room suite for up to two guests, with a living room, a bedroom with a double bed, and an ensuite bathroom with a shower. Etihad describes it as the world’s only three-room suite in the sky.
The First cabin has nine private apartments, each 39 square feet with a reclining chair and an ottoman that converts into an 80.5-inch bed. The upper deck holds 70 Business seats that convert into 80-inch lie-flat beds, and there is also a serviced lounge and bar area between the First and Business cabins. Economy seats 415 passengers, with seats 18.95 inches wide and 32 inches of legroom.
Passengers connecting through Abu Dhabi can use the airline’s Stopover programme, which offers a complimentary hotel stay of up to two nights.
