Qatar Airways and WestJet launch codeshare deal

-Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways on Monday announced a codeshare partnership with Canadian carrier WestJet, giving passengers more connections across Canada and beyond.

Under the agreement, Qatar Airways will place its “QR” code on WestJet flights within Canada, the airline said in a press release. In a codeshare arrangement, one airline sells seats on flights operated by a partner under its own flight number.

Qatar Airways passengers will be able to connect through Toronto and Montreal to Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Ottawa, Regina, Saskatoon, St John’s and Winnipeg. In the other direction, WestJet passengers in Canada will have access to Qatar Airways’ network of more than 170 business and leisure destinations, including New Delhi, Nairobi, Singapore and Jeddah.

The partnership comes as Qatar Airways expands its own Canadian service. From Oct 25, 2026, the airline increased its flights to Canada from 12 to 14 a week, with Toronto and Montreal each served daily.

The release said adding WestJet to its list of partners reflects the airline’s continued focus on collaborations that improve the travel experience for passengers worldwide. It named no spokesperson or executive, gave no start date for the codeshare flights, and did not say how many routes are covered.

WestJet, founded in 1996 and headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, serves more than 275 destinations, including through airline partners, and operates over 600 daily flights. It has more than 15,000 employees, according to the release. The WestJet Group also includes WestJet Vacations and Sunwing Vacations.

Qatar Airways flies to more than 170 destinations this winter from its hub at Hamad International Airport in Doha.
