Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA), which describes itself as the world’s largest seaplane operator, has welcomed its 68th aircraft as it prepares for the Maldives’ peak tourism season, the company said.
The airline said the addition reflects continued investment in its fleet and its commitment to meeting demand from the Maldivian tourism industry in the busy months ahead.
TMA operates up to 400 flights a day, connecting passengers to more than 80 resorts across 16 atolls, according to the company. Its fleet consists of De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft, including 13 resort-branded aircraft and two VIP-configured aircraft.
The airline links Velana International Airport, the country’s main gateway near the capital Male, with the island resorts, and handles guest transfers for much of the tourism sector.
The company said that with an expanded fleet, experienced teams and a continued commitment to safety and operational excellence, it enters the new season ready to connect travellers with the Maldives.
