Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq today stressed the need for skilled and internationally competent aviation professionals to support Bangladesh’s fast-expanding aviation infrastructure and major airport development projects.

He made the remarks while addressing the certificate distribution ceremony of the International Civil Aviation Organization-developed Training Instructors Course (TIC) at the auditorium of CAAB headquarters here, organised by the Civil Aviation Academy.

The CAAB chairman said implementation of large-scale projects, including the operation and expansion of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and the development of Cox’s Bazar Airport, requires highly skilled aviation professionals capable of meeting international operational standards.

He said the Civil Aviation Academy has been playing a leading role in developing competent human resources for the aviation sector and is steadily emerging as a centre of excellence in professional aviation training.

Siddiq also said the academy is currently developing two internationally standardised courses — “Rules of the Air” and “Aerodrome Operations for ATCOs” — which would further enhance professional expertise and open new opportunities for globally recognised training programmes.

A total of 24 officials involved in CAAB’s training activities successfully completed the TIC course and received certificates at the event. 

CAAB Member (Operations and Planning), Air Commodore Abu Sayeed Mehboob Khan attended the programme as special guest, while Prashanta Kumar Chakraborty, director of the Civil Aviation Academy, presented an overview of aviation training and future capacity-building initiatives.
