The Westin Dhaka has appointed Gary Farstad as its new General Manager (GM), effective 1 May 2026, the hotel announced recently.

A seasoned hospitality professional with over two decades of international experience, Farstad brings a distinguished record of operational excellence, revenue growth, and luxury hotel management spanning Canada, the Cayman Islands, and Curaçao.

Over the course of his career, Farstad has earned recognition for transforming full-service hotel operations through strategic leadership and guest-focused innovation. Most notably, he spearheaded a USD 2.4 million GOP increase at the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort between 2023 and 2024, while simultaneously achieving marked improvements in brand audit scores and employee engagement.

His accolades include the ITAC National Business Innovation Award in 2022 and the Hotel Association of Canada's Revenue Performance Team of the Year Award in 2019 — honours that reflect both his personal leadership capabilities and his ability to build high-performing teams.

With his appointment, The Westin Dhaka expressed confidence that Farstad's dynamic leadership and extensive global expertise will further consolidate the hotel's standing as one of Bangladesh's foremost luxury hospitality destinations.
