Yesterday, the Asia's largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar was opened to the public in Jammu & Kashmir. The garden has been fully equipped to accommodate local, domestic, and foreign tourists, and it is situated at the base of the Zabarwan Range, with a view of Dal Lake.
Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated Tulip Show-2026 at the Tulip Garden, Srinagar, and toured the garden.
This year, around 18 lakh tulips of over 70 varieties, along with nearly one lakh other bulbous flowers, including daffodils, hyacinths, and narcissus, have been planted. This has added vibrant colors to the valley’s spring landscape.
The Chief Minister appealed to tourists from across the country and around the world to visit Jammu & Kashmir during the spring season and experience its unmatched natural beauty.
Talking to Akashvani News Srinagar, Director of Floriculture Kashmir, Mat Hoora Masoom, talked about various features of the Tulip Show and innovative measures used to attract the visitors:
Last year, over 8 Lakh 55 Thousand (855,125) local, domestic, and foreign tourists visited the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, surpassing all previous records. It is hoped that the Tulip Show 2026 will boost tourism activities in the Kashmir region, as several offbeat tourist destinations have been added to the region's list of attractions.
