Strengthening its footprint in the Bangladesh market, Thai Airways International (THAI) has officially commenced operations of its new Airbus A321neo aircraft on the Dhaka-Bangkok route. The inaugural flight from Dhaka departed on August 15, 2026, marking the aircraft's integration into the carrier’s Summer 2026 regional schedule. The deployment of the A321neo is part of a broader fleet modernisation plan aimed at enhancing passenger comfort and operational efficiency on short- and medium-haul routes. This specific aircraft, registration HS-TOA and named “Bowonrungsi,” is the first of 32 A321neo aircraft slated to join the THAI fleet to deliver a modern, premium travel experience.

The new aircraft features a two-class configuration with a total of 175 seats, designed to offer a "widebody-like" experience in a narrow-body frame. The Royal Silk Class includes 16 full-flat beds with a 180-degree recline, arranged in a mix of 2-2 and 1-1 "Throne Seat" configurations to provide maximum privacy and comfort. These premium seats offer a 20-inch width and a 45-inch pitch. In Economy Class, there are 159 ergonomically designed slim-line seats with an 18-inch width, 31-inch pitch, and a comfortable recline of up to 110 degrees, featuring six-way adjustable leather headrests for enhanced support.

The travel experience is further elevated by a cutting-edge 4K touchscreen in-flight entertainment (IFE) system available at every seat. Royal Silk passengers enjoy 17.3-inch displays, while Economy passengers have 13.3-inch screens, both equipped with Bluetooth audio connectivity and access to high-speed internet via the SES Open Orbits network. Passenger convenience is increased with Airspace XL overhead bins, which offer up to 60% more storage capacity—enough to fit four cabin bags per bin—along with customizable mood lighting and a "Thai Contemporary" inspired design to create a pleasant atmosphere throughout the journey.

A key highlight of the A321neo is its environmental and technical performance, being powered by advanced CFM LEAP-1A engines. These engines allow for up to 15% to 20% lower fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions per seat compared to previous-generation aircraft. Additionally, the aircraft features a significantly smaller noise footprint for a quieter cabin and is certified to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The aircraft also utilises large wingtip Sharklets to further improve its high-efficiency operations.

The inclusion of Dhaka in the A321neo network reinforces Thai Airways' commitment to providing seamless connectivity and premium service across the Asia-Pacific region. The A321neo originally made its commercial debut on the Bangkok–Singapore route in January 2026 before expanding to other major regional hubs including Phuket and Delhi. By bringing this advanced aircraft to the Bangladesh market, the airline continues its mission to modernise its fleet and provide the best possible travel experience for passengers worldwide.
