Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (Dhaka airport) is scheduled to operate 42 flights to Middle East destinations today, marking the highest single-day traffic during ongoing Ramadan travel rush.

Airport flight management confirmed schedule includes 20 flights to Saudi Arabia, 10 to Muscat in Oman and 12 to various UAE cities. These operations represent peak of 11-day surge that began on February 28.

Breakdown shows Dubai receiving 4 flights, Abu Dhabi 2 and Sharjah 6 among UAE destinations. Saudi Arabia remains busiest route with 20 departures planned for Kingdom’s multiple cities carrying Umrah pilgrims and returning workers.

Airport has operated 283 flights to Middle East since February 28, with today’s 42 flights bringing total planned operations to 325. Traffic ramped up significantly from March 4 when daily flights jumped to 35 from earlier 6 to 22 range.

Between March 4-9, airport maintained daily operations between 31-40 flights. Monday saw 40 flights depart for Middle East destinations, comprising 22 to Saudi Arabia, 6 to Muscat and 12 to UAE.

Schedule demonstrates surge in religious travel during Ramadan alongside expatriate workers returning to Gulf countries. Saudi Arabia has received 183 flights during entire period, Muscat 69 and UAE destinations 73.

Operations began modestly on February 28 with only 6 flights but increased steadily through early March. Significant jump occurred from March 4 coinciding with approaching Ramadan and end of winter holiday season for Gulf-based workers.

Bangladesh maintains strong aviation connectivity with Middle East region, which hosts over 50 lakh Bangladeshi expatriate workers. Today’s 42-flight schedule reflects careful capacity planning to meet peak seasonal demand from both pilgrims and migrant workers.
