Aviation minister vows zero Hajj pilgrim harassment at airports

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam has directed officials to ensure Hajj pilgrims face no harassment during their journey, calling it a moral duty of state employees.


Minister made the remarks at Hajj management progress review meeting held today at Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry’s conference room.


She said, Maximum efforts must be made to facilitate smooth Hajj completion for pilgrims.


“Hajj passengers must not face any form of harassment. We need to pay attention to this. Besides, we must make utmost efforts to ensure pilgrims complete Hajj properly. As state employees, this is our moral responsibility”, Afroza Khanam said during the meeting.


State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat stated authorities will verify whether appropriate personnel are performing duties at suitable positions. Both minister and deputy minister expressed hope to visit Hajj camps for on-ground observation of overall situation.


Meeting also discussed increasing frequency of Hajj flights in detail. Enhanced flight operations aim to accommodate pilgrims efficiently and reduce waiting times at airports.


Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry Secretary Nasrin Jahan, Religious Affairs Ministry Secretary Mohammad Kamal Uddin and senior officials attended the session. Discussion covered comprehensive preparations for upcoming Hajj season including accommodation arrangements, health facilities and transport coordination.


Government’s focus on pilgrim welfare follows previous complaints regarding airport procedures and service quality. Authorities pledged to implement strict monitoring mechanisms to prevent any misconduct or negligence that could affect pilgrims’ experience.


Officials confirmed regular inspections will be conducted at Hajj camps and airport facilities to maintain service standards throughout the season.
