The Embassy of Sweden in Dhaka today cautioned prospective students to carefully review admission documents before paying tuition fees or applying for residence permits, highlighting legal provisions related to refunds and fraudulent documentation.
In a notice posted on its official Facebook page, the embassy advised students to read important information thoroughly prior to making financial commitments linked to university admissions in Sweden.
The embassy cited Section 4 of the Swedish Ordinance (2010:543) on Application Fees and Tuition Fees at Universities and Colleges, which allows universities to refund paid tuition fees if there are special reasons to do so.
However, it cautioned that universities retain the right to refuse application fee refunds if they grant admission based on fraudulent documents.
“Document forgery is a criminal offense under Swedish law,” the notice stated, underscoring the potential legal consequences of submitting falsified credentials.
Sweden remains a popular destination for Bangladeshi students seeking higher education, particularly in fields such as engineering, information technology, and environmental studies.
